Tunics

Tunics are smock-like garments worn by young boys. A tunic suit is a close-fitting jacket with a gathered or pleated skirt. The skirts would come to about mid-calf and as time went on the skirts got shorter. Sometimes boys would wear pants under the tunics. Between the ages of 3-6, children wore tunics with white frilled draws shown below hem. It is hard to distinguish tunics from dresses. The tunic is very plain often a dark or muted color. This style lasted until the 1850s.
