Canes, Ties, Gloves and Collars!
Canes, ties, gloves and collars were needed accessories. Canes could be used by people who did not need them. The reason canes became so popular was because many men did actually need them from being hurt while fighting in the French Revolutionary War and also to move horse wastes from the path they were walking on. Ties were worn with all suits. Men did not have any extra frill or fancy to their style of dress so added neck and bowties to their out fits. Some men of the time believed that gloves should be worn at all times in and outdoors. Collars were also a big deal. High, low and shawled collars appeared and still appear today.
