Hippopotamus Hippos are most commonly found throughout all of Sub-Saharan Africa. All though hippos may appear to be very cute, they happen to be considered one of the most aggressive animals in Africa. They weigh 3000 to 4500 kg and eat terrestrial grasses. Hippos like to sleep mostly during the day and move around at night. However, this does not mean that they are strictly nocturnal. Sadly though, many of our hippo friends have been exterminated or reduced. A large congregation of hippos can be found in the Nile River. The hippo that you see here is a hippo from Africa. He loves to sit in the water all day long. I have made this hippo out of water bottle wrappers, bottle caps, and plastic water bottles because I felt that it would only be appropriate to make an animal out of some recycled item that somehow relates to them. Hippos seem to love water so much that I knew right away I would need many water bottles to complete such a project After all my hard work and recycling I have made a rather colorful creation. |
