African Gazelle
This piece of artwork is an African Gazelle. A numerous amount of species of gazelles can be found on the open plains and semi deserts of Mongolia to the Atlantic coast of North Africa and throughout Eastern and Central Tropical Africa. They usually travel in herds containing 5 to 10 individuals. Out of the many species of gazelles some have been considered endangered. The materials I used to make the gazelle were wire, a soda can, newspaper, and plastic bags. The wire was used to make the legs, head and antlers. The body was made with a soda can and covered with newspaper and plastic bags. I used these materials because of the ease that was found for shaping the gazelle. The plastic bags were a perfect color for the outside and the soda can was easy to crush to make a slender body. The newspaper was used to wrap the wire and the soda can so I would have a nice surface for the plastic bags. The wire was also good to shape the antlers, legs and head because it was fairly easy to bend. These materials were great to use and were obviously easily accessible because they were recycled goods. |
